Therme Loipersdorf opened in 1978 after exploratory drilling in south-east Styria struck thermal water instead of oil. It has grown into one of Austria's largest thermal complexes, with a family-facing water world and a quieter adults-only sauna and relaxation area set among the vineyards and pumpkin fields of the Thermenland.

Come for the contrast between a genuinely large water landscape and the soft agricultural countryside around it: the region's wine taverns, pumpkin-seed oil and gentle hills make Loipersdorf a full weekend rather than a single bathe.
