Bad Reichenhall's wealth came from salt, and the RupertusTherme, opened in 2004, brings that inheritance into a modern bathing house: indoor and outdoor brine pools, a saline inhalation gallery and sauna terraces facing the Predigtstuhl and the Berchtesgaden Alps.

Why visit

The setting is the point — you float in warm brine with a wall of limestone peaks in front of you, minutes from the old salt works and the graduation-tower gardens of the historic spa quarter.
