Harrogate built its Turkish baths in 1897 at the height of the town's spa fame, and they still operate largely as designed: a sequence of hot rooms, a plunge pool and a domed cooling room finished in glazed brick and painted arches.

One of very few complete Victorian Turkish baths still working anywhere in Britain, and remarkably intact.
Practical information
Sessions are timetabled and often single-sex; book in advance. The baths are heated rather than spring-fed, though Harrogate's sulphur and iron springs made the town's name.
