Jarðböðin við Mývatn opened in 2004 on a ridge above Lake Mývatn, in one of Iceland's most volcanically active districts. The water comes from the Bjarnarflag borehole field and is alkaline, mineral-rich and free of the sulphur smell that marks nearby vents.

Pourquoi y aller
The lagoon looks north-west across the lake and lava fields, so long summer evenings and winter aurora both work in its favour. It draws a fraction of the crowds of the southwest lagoons.
