Peninsula Hot Springs sits in low coastal scrub near Fingal, at the southern end of Victoria's Mornington Peninsula. Geothermal water is drawn from a deep bore beneath the site and distributed through a landscape of open-air pools, private tubs and a hilltop bathing amphitheatre that looks out over the surrounding country. Opened to the public in 2005, it was the first commercial natural hot springs bathhouse of its kind in Victoria and set the template that later Australian bathhouses followed.

Взгляд Balnevia

Почему стоит поехать

The site is unusually varied for a single bathhouse: a large public bathing area with dozens of pools of different temperatures, a quieter adults-only precinct, and a hilltop pool reached by a spiral path. Bathing here is deliberately slow and outdoors, with eucalypts, sea air and long views doing as much work as the water.

История

Mineral water was located beneath the property in the late 1990s, and the first pools opened in 2005 after several years of development. The bathhouse expanded steadily over the following two decades, adding private bathing areas, a wellness centre and a second amphitheatre precinct, and became the reference point for Australia's modern bathing culture.

Практическая информация

Sessions are timed and booking ahead is essential, particularly on weekends and school holidays. Bring your own towel and robe or hire them on arrival; swimwear is required throughout. Allow at least three hours to move slowly between pools, and drink water regularly between soaks.
