The Bagni Vecchi stand on the road above Bormio at about 1,300 m, where springs feed a sequence of baths including the tunnelled Bagno Romano cut into the rock and an open pool projecting over the Valdidentro valley.

История

The springs were described by Pliny the Elder and used through the Roman period; the present bath buildings are largely eighteenth- and nineteenth-century, restored as a spa in the 2000s.

Entry is timed and capacity-limited, so book ahead, especially in ski season. The circuit is a route through many small baths rather than one pool.
