The Haseki Hürrem Sultan Hamamı was built in 1556 by the imperial architect Mimar Sinan for Hürrem Sultan, wife of Süleyman the Magnificent. Its two symmetrical wings stand on the old Byzantine Baths of Zeuxippus, between Hagia Sophia and the Sultanahmet Mosque.

訪ねる理由
This is Ottoman bath architecture at its most refined: matched men's and women's halls on a single axis, marble hararet chambers and domes pierced with star-shaped lights.

歴史
Sinan built the double hamam for the sultan's consort in 1556; it later served as a prison and a state carpet showroom before being restored and reopened as a working bath in 2011.
実用情報
This is a heated marble hamam, not a thermal spring bath. Sessions are booked in advance and follow the traditional scrub-and-foam sequence; men and women use separate wings.
アクセス
Sultanahmet tram stop (T1) is a two-minute walk; the bath faces the square between Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque.
