Hepburn Bathhouse & Spa stands in the Hepburn Mineral Springs Reserve, a fern-shaded valley in the Victorian goldfields near Daylesford. The surrounding district holds the largest cluster of naturally carbonated mineral springs in Australia, drawn up by hand pumps at spouts throughout the reserve. The bathhouse itself dates from 1895 and combines a heritage bathing hall with a contemporary pool wing, using the local mineral water warmed for bathing.
Lo sguardo di Balnevia
Perché visitarlo
The waters here are naturally effervescent and cool at the source, which makes the contrast between the spring spouts in the reserve and the warm indoor pools part of the experience. Bathing is paired with a walkable landscape of springs, bridges and tree-lined paths that has drawn visitors continuously since the nineteenth century.

Storia
European settlers and Swiss-Italian miners recognised the district's springs in the 1860s, and the reserve was set aside for public use soon after. The original bathhouse opened in 1895 and served generations of "taking the waters" visitors; after decades of decline it was restored and reopened in 2008 with the historic hall retained alongside new bathing spaces.
Informazioni pratiche
Book bathing sessions in advance, especially at weekends when Daylesford is busy. Bring a bottle to taste and carry water from the free public spouts in the reserve — the raw mineral water is strongly carbonated and mineral-tasting. Combine bathing with the reserve's short walking loops.
Come arrivare
