Bad Gastein sits in a steep valley in the Salzburg Alps, built in tiers around a waterfall that cuts through the middle of town. Its thermal water has been used since the Middle Ages and made the town a Habsburg-era resort; the Felsentherme is built directly into the mountainside above the centre.
Lo sguardo di Balnevia
Perché visitarlo
Indoor and outdoor pools open onto the valley and the ski slopes, and the bath links the belle-époque town centre with the mountain above it. The waters carry naturally occurring radon, the basis of the local cure tradition.
