Hurshimchung occupies a vast hall in Dongnae, the hot spring quarter of Busan, with dozens of pools under a high glass roof: hot and cold basins, jet baths, herbal and mugwort pools, waterfall showers and outdoor tubs, alongside kiln saunas. The mineral water is drawn from the Dongnae springs beneath the district.

Histoire

Dongnae's springs appear in Korean records from the Silla period and served royal visitors and, later, a colonial-era spa town. Hurshimchung opened in 1991 beside Hotel Nongshim, gathering the district's bathing tradition into a single very large facility; a public foot bath still stands on the street outside.

Informations pratiques

Bathing is naked and strictly separated by gender, as in all Korean bathhouses. Optional attendants provide the traditional full-body scrub; allow two to three hours.
