Gyopárosfürdő grew up beside a shallow soda lake on the southern Great Plain, where bathing began in the 1860s. Deep alkaline hydrocarbonate thermal water now feeds a rebuilt complex of covered wellness pools, an open-air lido and a lakeside promenade, all recognised as a medicinal bath.
