Bad Zurzach was a medieval market and pilgrimage town when a borehole struck hot mineral water in the mid-1950s; the bath opened shortly afterwards and turned the village into one of Switzerland's principal spa resorts. The complex now runs a broad set of indoor and outdoor mineral pools with a sauna village alongside.
