The Bagni Nuovi were built in the 1830s on the slope above Bormio in the upper Valtellina, where thermal springs have been used since antiquity. Terraced outdoor pools look across the valley towards the Stelvio massif.

Historia
Bormio's springs were described by Pliny the Elder and used through the Middle Ages; the Bagni Nuovi were completed in 1836 to serve 19th-century spa tourism and were restored in the 2000s.

The complex is run as a day spa attached to a historic hotel; entry is by timed session and includes robe and towel. Swimming costumes are required in most pools.
Cómo llegar
Bormio is reached by road from Tirano (about an hour), which is the terminus of the Bernina railway and the Milan line; the baths are a short drive above the town.
