Hell's Gate, or Tikitere, has been under the guardianship of Ngāti Rangiteaorere for centuries and is the most active geothermal reserve in the Rotorua area. A walking track passes boiling pools and steaming ground to Kakahi Falls, and the spa alongside offers geothermal mud and sulphur bathing.
